SLI 2 8800GT / GTS with my setup? - Page 2

post #11 of 18
I upgraded both at same time... wanted SLI but was running a 17" so it was pointless, wanted a 22" WS but really didnt wana try gaming at that res with 1 card, so I got both.. Just save up, ppl have said its pointless to run sli on less than 24" on another post, but I wouldnt want a single 8800gt at 1680x1050 so Im running 2, and even better I can OC the crap out of em and they dont heat up cause they really arent at full potential at my res.

the only downside to SLI for me is the fact that you have to disable it for multi monitor setup... but for the ammount of performance im getting, its not even bothersome...

In most of my games, I can either play with or force 16x AA at 1600 x 1200 with a single card. The only games I can't do that with are Crysis, Bioshock, and UT3. I play all of my Source games at 1600 x 1200 with 16x Q CSAA and max detail. All my other games, I play 1600 x 1200 and max detail allowed in the game options.

QFT A single 8800GT is more than enough for 1680x1050/1600x1200. At 1920x1200, an 8800GTS 512MB is also plenty. Crysis, UT3, COD4, Bioshock, and SuperCom are really the only games that take advantage of SLI/CF.

I grown to dislike crysis....

and a dual core is more than enough for todays pc world, yet you still have a QX which i would to if i could afford it

Ive noticed improvements on FPS in every game Ive played, i went from 1 8800gt on a 17" @ 1280x1024 to 2 gt's on a 22" @ 1680x1050... so Im happy, even if I dont need the second card.... I will at some point......

That makes no sense.

1440x900 = 1,296,000 pixels

1280x1024 = 1,310,720 pixels

So, as you can see, the 19" 4:3 ratio monitor actually is more demanding than a widescreen. It actually makes more sense to SLI on a 4:3 19" monitor, as opposed to a lower resolution, widescreen monitor.

I bought my QX because I wanted a 45nm quad at 4Ghz, which couldn't be done with my motherboard. It also helps when folding ^_^

I dont blame you.... Much like the rest of this post... "want" and "need" are two different things
