finished with p5n32e sli...any suggestions?

Hi
I have the P5N32E sli board in a water cooled setup. I am sick of the freezes, boot problems and otherwise, even if running at stock settings (ram volted to 2.0).
Any suggestions on a better replacement board? EVGA 780? Would an EVGA board be able to use the same waterblocks?
Thanks

Hi.

The 780i mobo should make you happy again.

I had the same issues with the P5N32E SLI mobo. Once I migrated to the 680i and 780i mobos things fog tmuch better.

I don't know about the blocks (NB, SB, etc) fitting.

You could also take a look at the Extreme Striker II. Evidently the glitches from the Extreme have been ironed out.

Thanks Syrillian

Did you WC after you switched to the EVGA board?
I am looking for a nice stable 30-40% OC on the E6600 for 24/7 use.
How have you found the EVGA as far as stability? Any GFX corruption issues?
Thanks

Yes, All but one of my rigs is liquid cooled.

I have no issues with both EVGA 680i and 780i mobos.

Your expectations are well within reach (as long as your ambient temp is reasonable: < 30C)

I can not recommend enough that you take a look at Robilars threads concerning these mobos, and to hit up ericeod for his info. These guys have been instrumental in my happiness with these mobos.

Temp should be no issue, I have lots of radiator area and a cool ambient temp. I used Robilar's threads for the P5N32E and it was great. I just never got stable for long periods. It would bench test fine for hours, then 3 weeks later not boot or hang all the time. Driving me mental.
I am weighing out the 780 vs 790 option now, but I don't want to spend a ton on DDR3 and don't think it is that big of a difference as I am CPU limited usually anyhow.
I am thinking the 780i should be a good fit. Are there any pitfalls I should look for in buying an EVGA 780i board in ters of batches or avoiding the GFX corruption?
I am on my way to the Robilar thread now.
Thanks

I think the eVGA 750i FTW is proving to be the best SLI based overclocker. People are even selling off their 780i to get one! It also has2 full PCI-E X16 slots, which other 750i boards do not have.

Here is a great review showing it running a 470 FSB with a quad core:
Xtremesystems.org

These boards run a 500 FSB easily with dual cores:

Very Good Results , specially the excellent Latency = 47.2ns !!

Special thnks to EVGA for the Sample !

Can I say holy crap on this forum?
I just did.

Nice. I hadn't even considered that board......any downside compared to a 780i? I used to have a 50% cpu OC with the ASUS but it slowly got worse and worse on me to the point where it wont run stock settings.
I would love to push the CPU but need complete 24/7 stability.
I will have to read your write up.
Cheers

The only downfall is that it only has 4 SATA ports. Other then that, it outshines the eVGA 780i.

Thanks for the replies.
While I am changing out the board Ithink I will add an E8500. Do you tink this would work well with the EVGA 750i or are there better bets for a 24/7 OC?
Thanks
Sam
