tmpin2 is the NB temp for that mobo and yes mine that i had few months ago was giving me NB temp 84"c. I had to use a small fan on that H/S to bring the temp down bellow 80.

my northbridge has the same temp reading, the double sided tape idea sounds ok.

apparently its normal.

Hello guys, been reading through this thread since yesterday as i just bought a used board from eBay for my 2nd setup. I'm starting to feel worry as a lot of people said that the NB caught fire! So i just assembled it along with Athlon 7750 but it seems that the board didn't like my OCZ 1066Mhz Ram @ 2.0/2.1V and the NB temps are still 80 even though i change the heatsink with Thermalright HT-05/IFX w/70mm fans, i also installed mosfet heatsink- Thermalright HR-09U type 2 (didn't fit with the screw mountings), any changes in bus speeds (more than 210Mhz - it will not post). So can i see any of your setup pictures? ;p

4870x2 = beyond my reach LoL
how long have you been using the motherboard? I can't fiddle much with mine..it always resets itself when i tried to adjust the HTT..can't even reach 205Mhz @ 1.3v NB..My previous Asus m3n78-vm HTPC board is much better.. and did you use any chipset coolers? 80 degrees for a chipset is for cooking egg LoL

over a year now almost. U just need to get the volts right, i had no probs with tweaking mine to run at 3.6ghz. Try adjusting all the volts a tad each. Im using the v8cooler as seen in the vid. mine tops at 55 degrees celsious.

I'm running this board with an Athlon 64 x2 5200+, and am noticing the same ridiculously high temperatures that you are. This is my first foray into overclocking and am somewhat disappointed with my results. Mostly because the highest I can seem the processor reference clock to go when putting everything together after testing is about 227 MHz.

That is a very impressive overclock Skywarp. I've been thinking about getting that same processor. Read some very good things about it.

Yeah, at first I thought that probably the temp diode has gone bad..
I replaced the stock NB heatsink with Thermalright IFX HR-05, temps only gone down from 84 to a mere 80C degrees! thats just suck, not worth the money I spent for the heatsink LoL..

You got 227Mhz on the HTT? whats your NB voltage then? I cant seem to adjust mine at all..even with extra 0.1v @ 205Mhz and the system will be unstable.. My PII 720 are maxed out @ 3.7Ghz /1.52v with this board, thats not too bad compared to other ppl OC..I probably will continue to use this board for another 6 months..planning on getting the 790FX-UD5P

I've got it at 1.45v now. I'm giving serious thought to going with the 790FX-UD5P as well along with the Phenom II 940 BE.

I used Durch's official AM2 overclocking guide. The mobo isolation phase I got the reference clock to go to 395 MHz with the HT at 4x. In the processor isolation phase I could only get the reference clock to 230 MHz with the multiplier at default (13.5.) The memory isolation phase I had the best results with 4/4/4/12/22 timing. I got that stable with a reference of 232 MHz with the multiplier at 10x. I don't have the info in front of me, but it put the stable memory speed at somewhere around 470 MHz.

As you can see from my title I am an overclocker in training and no expert on any of this. Any advice would be much appreciated. I already got some in my "new member" post, but I'm at work so I can't try it.
