Crossfire 3800/2900? - Page 2

I have no plans to crossfire myself, but i have friends here who i have built systems for, and some of them were built in the HD2900 era with a crossfire upgrade path, and it would have been nice if this were a viable upgrade path as the 2900's become somewhat a rarity, and the 3870 is so damn cheap.

i myself might wait and purchase a HD4x00 series X2. as long as someone releases a mATX board with a single pcie 2.0 x16 slot.

mayhaps just another gamernerd trying to make his cake look beef.

never mind what was here.

in my upgrade path is a 24" widescreen trinitron CRT i would like to play 1680x1050 shortly after that purchase with some hefty AA, but for now i am set.

Actually the 780G AM2+ boards have a PCI-E 2.0 x16 slot (if you want a LGA775 board then you're probably right you'll have to wait) so all you have to wait for is the HD4870 X2.

yeah, i would definatly need a G45 chipset or something along the lines.

unless of course AMD stole the performance crown back from intel.
