Need helping OC'n a e8400 CPU - Page 2

Also make sure your RAM is unlinked. Thats what I had to do anyway cuz if I left it link it didn't like it so try unlinking it and keeping it at 800mhz at first till you get a stable OC

ok I give up trying to get to 4Ghz with these ram sticks... Thinking there bad cause if I try for 3.8Ghz with a ratio of 425x9 and a Vcore in CPUZ showing 1.32 orthos blend shows fairly stable now. Ram clocked to 900Mhz gives me headaches but clocked to 850 which is just 50 over stock seems fairly fine.

Go figure that one out... Anyways I'm gonna try and RMA these ramsticks when I remember where I got them from.

Would it be better to try just 2x1gig sticks instead of 4x1gig sticks ?

4Ghz is turning out to be a much bigger pain than I thought it would be. Currently sitting at 423x9 with RAM at 1:1, which passed OCCT. 445x9 with the other values suggested resulted in a BSoD while running OCCT, so I'll see how far I can push the FSB between those two values before I start getting errors.

Finally, 4Ghz stable, yay!

The exact settings I used:
FSB: 445Mhz
DRAM Frequency: 1069Mhz
DRAM Timings: 5-5-5-15 (Left the rest on auto.)
CPU Voltage: 1.3625v (Also used the pencil mod which made a huge difference in vdroop, http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...69&postcount=1)
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.62v
North Bridge Voltage 1.67v
DRAM Voltage: 2.16v (The Maximus Formula overvolts RAM by quite a bit.)
FSB Termination Voltage: 1.2v
CPU GTL Reference: 0.63x
North Bridge GTL Reference: 0.67x

Next I'll see which voltage settings I can drive down before it becomes unstable. My temps idle around 40 degrees, but jump to ~60 when under full load. Is this normal? I'm not looking forward to reseating my Tuniq Tower, since it's huge and a giant pain to take off. It doesn't feel warm at all when I touch it while under full load, so I'm not sure if it's that it's not conducting or just the funky temperature sensors in the E8400 being funky.

Nice OC on that E8400.

That NB volt looks high, what is your NB temp on load, when you run Prime95 Blend for example?

That was with all 4 sticks. Sitting at 450Mhz FSB at the moment.

I'll see about driving the NB voltage down some, pushing it up seemed to make the difference between stable and unstable with all 4 sticks of RAM though. Not sure about the NB temp.

Dropped the NB voltage down to 1.59v, currently running OCCT to test it. If I set the NB voltage to auto, it jumps to 1.69v.
