eVGA 8800GT SSC vs eVGA 8800GTS 512MB (G92)

Okay I'm trying to decide to upgrade to getting 2 GTS's instead of my GT's. Can anyone tell me if there is a significant difference between the 2 cards performance wise.

I'm not splurging right now so no 9800GTX's for me. I'm waiting for all the newest vid cards before I splurge but I can get the GTS for $120 a piece right now so I'm trying to see if it's really worth it. So help me out OCN.

I think you should keep what you have since i dont think the upgrade would be that great of an improvement.

I think cooling would be the only upgrade you are going to see. The SSC 8800GT are stock clocked at 700. The GTS (G92) is 670 or so and I have only been able to get mine up to 770 ATI Tool stable.

You could probably get your 8800GT to overclock a bit more than the stock SSC setting and you will be just fine. I don't think it is worth the time and effort.

If you want to upgrade your cards, wait to see what the newest NVidia solutions are going to be in July or August. That is what I am going to do. I was going to SLI my GTS (G92), but I'm just going to replace it with the new GT200 or whatever is coming out.

Not worth the investment. You have a pretty darn powerful set up there, and I'd indeed wait for next-generation cards.

My SSC's are running at 750/can't remember/2200 They run really cool with the DuOrbs on both of them. It's just that I can get the GTS's for $120 a piece right now so I figured why not give it a thought or so.

I'll fill in the shader clock when I get done messing with all the HDD.

Personally, I think it would be waste of time and money. You'll see maybe a 10% gain in performance....for $240.

Save your money the GTS will give you a slight increase in performance and is not worth it.

If you can sell your 8800GT's for the same price... heck, why not. Free upgrades are always good

Oh I don't sell...they'll go back in their boxes and then into the magical special land known as the chest of crap which contains pretty much everything I've ever upgraded from on my systems. Also, I do have 1 other question for the GTS users here....does your GTS have Hynix or Samsung ram chips on it?

It's mainly 112 vs 128 SP.
