8800gts 512 needs 125w idle on a 12 volt rail if you want to get an 8800 i would suggest getting a gt with your current power supply it all depends on amperage also so best getting a new power supply thats rated at or above 30amp on each rail etc.. as your stock psu could blow and take your whole system with it :-/

If you get an EVGA 8800GTS 512, you can step up in 90 days. By 480w, do you mean generic? I wouldn't chance it...
Thread Starter
Yeah generic stock stuff. I think im just gonna get a 8800 gt 512 with some branded 500w power supply. That should keep me good for 2 years

Click Click - 8800GT - £105

Quite possibly a PNY card, as that's what my flatmate recently recieved.

Still, and 88GT is an 88GT, those things are little fliers!

edit

or This - 8800GTS 512 - £145

edit 2

Or This Point of View 8800GT for £100

Orders over £50 on eBuyer get free delivery...

Or this Inno3D 8800GT for £115

Apologies if i've missed the point of this thread, or repeated anything.. I just jumped straight to the bottom, tl;dr.
