COD4 Graphics problem

Whever I play COD4 I get texture pop ups (dont know what the right term is called) But ill try to explain it. When I am about 20 feet away from a tree or a dumpster it will have little detail on it, now if I move 5-10 feet closer I see the graphics load onto the tree or dumbster, Like the tree would have more branches. It happens on Mass Effect and Gears of War on the 360 a lot. I think its called texture loading issues or something.

Im pretty sure I have the latest Evga 8800GTS drivers but to make sure can anybody tell me what the latest drivers are for an evga 8800GTS?

The latest drivers are http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_175.16_whql.html. Also have you overclocked your GPU?

I tried to overclock my GPU but it ended up not giving me any performance increase so I put it back to default settings.

anisotropic filtering only effects distance textures and angled texture resolutions, the view distance on how the model is made up and what textures are then applied to that would be more to do with something else, what it would be in those games i dont really know. as a CoD4 player as well, and having played from lowest (temporary X1950Pro) settings to highest (3870), try upping your model datail settings which i beleive are at the bottom of the list.

well, i am at a loss, CoD 4 settings for me seem to drop the quality and keep it there, and not change it when i get closer to objects.

the last time i had a similar problem was with a dying hard drive trying to play GTA3 on PC, where id drive through the city too fast and trees and stuff's loading wouldnt have caufght up with my position in the game, maybe try checking the health of your HDD(s) unless it seems to be in real time and not because your system just cant catch up.

alot of the time games have different level of detail models for greater distances to save you from rediculously low FPS caused by crap so far away you cant tell the difference.
