Gigabyte Ga-MA790FX-DS5

Thread Starter
will my gigbyte Ga-790FX-Ds5 support a 9850 with the lastest bios update (F5)? because I them both and they seemsd to work fine, it read it as a 9850 and all, but i had a few problems with the VGA card and stuff so I had to send it all in... I mean with this CPU and mobo it booted and all its just the CUP support list doesnt say it supports it... but it worked? wierd. anyone know why? maybe the new bios supports but out of box doesnt?

Here is the CPU List for the board. As for your issue. Hey if it works leave it alone lol.

look at that list again there are two wntries for the 9750 , maybe they entered the second one wrong cuz the second one is the same wattage as the the 9850 should be which is 125! so maybe it does work...

No there is NO FULL SUPPORT for Phenom 9850BE with the bios F5. The board boots with the processor, but there is no way to over clock it. Gigabyte tech support said that this processor still wasn't validated for the DS5 motherboard. When it may be validated? I have no idea, maybe next BIOS update? Good luck!

Hi.

I had a DS4 and a Phenom 9850 BE. Upgraded to F4, stable as a ho in high heels running across a cobbled road. BSOD once a day with clock interrupt issues etc. and that was at stock before I tried to OC it.

Tech support were no use, said there was no bios revision any higher that would do us any good, etc. etc. so I sent it back.

Got an M3A32 MVP Deluxe and it's solid as a friggin rock. It's an expensive board but if you've already got the chip then you might find it's the best option. Other than that I haven't a clue, but I do know one thing - it'll be a cold day in hell before I replace this Asus with a Gigabyte board.
