upgrading from 7800GT to 8800GTX

Thread Starter
just bought an 8800GTX from an OCN member and was wondering how big of an upgrade it is over my 7800GT.

tried googling for a bit, but only came up with spec sheets and no benchmarks since 7800GT is an older card.

am i in for a big surprise?

Its a pretty big upgrade. DX10 for one, and the GTXs perform pretty well. Cant speak personally though.

Expect your 3dmark scores to triple and game fps maybe even more depending on resolution.

wish i would have got one instead of my GTS so worth the price

i upgraded from the 7900GT to the 8800GTs and it was like going from a beige computer to a black one. Its a completely different animal.

you'll love it.

I went from 7800GTX to 8800GTX and it's ridiculous. Think medieval to industrial age.

I went from a 7800GT to a 8800GTS 512 (pretty much the same performance as your GTX) and my FPS doubled in all of my games... some games it even tripled!

You cant even compare the 2 cards really, your GTX will run games maxed out really well... (well, not crysis, but what can )
