upgrading from 7800GT to 8800GTX - Page 4

well, i went from a 8600GTS (a little better than the 7800GT) to a 8800GT (a little worse than the 8800GTX) so the gains should be similar. Mmy fps about doubled. my 3dmark score went from above 6K to above 11K, with my cpu @ 2.4GHZ.

If you drop your ram down to 667mhz, you can up your FSB to 1333 at stock volts.

i doubt it. my cpu @ stock right now is @ 42C the temps would create a problem, i think. its a b3 chip. but if i try this and put the ram @ 667, what should i set the voltages to (for everything) and the ram's CAS?

EDIT: my chips VID is 1.25v.

Be prepared. The GTX runs a bit hotter than most cards. Make sure you have some decent airflow, and plenty of power.

so i guess i was using windows drivers for my 7800gt because 3dmark kept on messing up and artifacting during tests. i didnt have time to mess with it so i just pulled it out and installed the 8800gtx.

managed to get 13746 3dmarks on 06

results here: http://service.futuremark.com/home.a...B34970B92F9565

what a beast!
