Critique build - $900 budget - needed complete system

Hey everyone. I originally set myself a budget of about $700 - $800, but since I need an OS as well, it's at $960 with $60 in MIL ($900 exact). The only thing I can keep from my old rig is the DVD/RW which requires IDE. My old HDD is IDE as well but wanted to swtich to SATA for obvious reasons.

Any input/criticsm is welcome. Bulding this rig to play Age of Conan, Crysis and future endevours as well as a bit of Audio production (firewire needed). I don't need alot of HDD space at the moment as I have almost 1 TB in external storage.

The case I picked I liked after seeing a previous thread, looks like good cooling, has firewire, and since it's all white I can paint it custom.

Look at Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, or PC Power and Cooling for the power supply

I've been suggested this before, and I figured for $20 more for a good name... although I've heard good from Rosewill as well, might as well. Added.

Its not a good name, its a good product. Do you want to have a cheap power supply connected to $800 worth of components? Ask other people, Corsair makes good PSUs, better than Rosewell.

get evga or bfg 8800gts for the lifetime warranty, msi only offers 1 year

scrap that crappy case. I would pay a little for for a Cooler Master Centurion, looks nicer, and has some good cooling features for later upgrades.

Clearly, you've done your research. Great choices for almost all components. Just a few suggestions: first, as others have said, get a better PSU for goodness sakes. Rosewill is definately NOT the go to name for PSUs. I'd go with this one if you're on a budget. Though the wattage is "lower", a lower rated PSU from a better manufacturer is still gonna outperform the Rosewill. Second, if you can afford it, I'd go with a better HDD. I have that exact model, but it only has 8MB cache, meaning it's not gonna perform as well as an equivalent 7200RPM HDD with, say, 16MB cache. Third, I'd reconsider that 64 bit OS. Though you'll support more RAM, most software doesn't support/take full advantage of 64 bit yet. As for case, I'm not sure I'd go with that one, but that's personal preference. All in all, nice build. Good Luck!

Sure, but it's Dell... That means no OC, cheap parts, etc. No OC!?! This is OCN!
