BIOS/Ntune problem

Thread Starter
I just started getting into overclocking and have a couple issues. My bios does not have an option to adjust the HT multiplier, so I've been using NTune for tweaking, and only adjusting voltages in my bios.

I can get my system pretty nicely overclocked and stable via ntune, by adjusting the voltage in my bios, booting to windows, then adjusting HT, FSB, memory timings, etc. Up to about 2.75 from 2.4 on my CPU, at 12x228, HTx4. Tested and verified with cpu-z, everest, and stressed with orthos.

This runs my machine super fast and stable according to a 24 hour orthos blend.

My problem is this.

I have heard that overclocking via software is risky and can lead to OS corruption and a multitude of other problems, but I cannot achieve anywhere near these values via bios. I have tried tweaking by the smallest increments possible in the bios to get to the same values and can't even get close.

With Ntune I'm running at 12x228, and I can't even boot to the OS if bios is set at anything over 12x210.

Any insight into this problem would be much appreciated.

What cooling solution are you using WC or Air
Do you have a stable and recent BIOS
I ask as an alternative to Ntune. Never liked Ntune....at all.

Thanks for that link, I will try to make some more adjustments but I'm not getting anywhere near what they say my MB is capable of, guess I'll just wait until my new processor gets here Friday and try again.

I'm using air cooling but my problem is I can't get anywhere near a speed that shows a temp increase before I start crashing/failing to boot.

I have the 1.11 bios released last month, according to msi its the latest version.
