My final build.. I think

Thread Starter
First, thanks for all the help and useful information here at overclock.net!

I'm pretty sure I have decided on the parts I'll be ordering in the next day or two.

Case:
Rocketfish... Picked this up at best buy and added 4 of the scythe slipstream 110 CFM fans in the case (2 on top, 1 in bottom, 1 in drive bay). I may replace the stock fans also but going to see how the cooling is on it first.

CPU:
E8400

Mobo:
DFI Lanparty DK P35-T2RS

HDD:
Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
EDIT: Will be using a 500GB HDD instead due to the recommendation that I will want more space.
PSU:
Corsair 750tx (Don't need this much power but figure I can grow into it eventually)

Optical:
SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA

Video:
EVGA 8800 GTS KO 512

CPU cooling:
TRUE (Wanted to get vendetta 2 but found it wouldn't work with the MOBO i picked)
AS5
Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000rpm

Memory:
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000)

Cables:
AMC 20" 2-Head Red SATA (SERIAL ATA 150)
TRIPP LITE 39" SATA Cable
(I don't know if one cable is better than the other so I just picked a cable based on price and length. The rocketfish is pretty big and I decided to get some long cables, hopefully these will fit)

Anyway I think thats everything I need for my build, I'll add a fan controller later to help control the loudness. Any last suggestions or product changes to get similiar performance with less money, or changes to add performance for a small increase in costs.

Thanks.

its gr8i would just try to find the same burner with light scribe, its worth the $5 or so.

EDIT: id go for a bigger HDD, i have a 320GB and its filling up fast, 750GB are $120-$130 now, i wish i got one of those.

I agree, if you have the extra money. There is a 750GB Sata for $110 free shipping on newegg I believe.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Found this for only 20$ more than I was looking at
Western Digital Caviar SE WD5000AAJS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s

The cheapest 750 I could find was 120$ on newegg.

I didn't think a 320 would be a problem for me to start with and the 120$ on the 750 is a lil more than I had expected to spend on a HDD.

I'm just not use to having a lot of HDD space so 500 seems huge to me. Currently I only have 100.

ok, then, 500GB is good enough, id you really cant stretch it.

awesome build.

EDIT: unless youd consider going QUAD, the Q6700 or Q9450 would be better options, imho, but if you really dont want to, then whatever, its still an awesome CPU.

I originally looked at the Q6600, but my main use will be gaming.
I didn't have a chance to look at the Q6700 or Q9450 as I basically ended my search for a CPU after I read about the E8400.

Guess I'll check those 2 cpus out before I finally buy.

Thanks once again!

yeah, most games this year will use 4 cores, alot already due. for future gaming, quad cores are better.

I looked over the quads, however they appear to be slightly out of my reach atm. And I think I'll be happy with the e8400, atleast for a while. Right now I have a Pentium Dual Core 1.7GHz labtop with a nvidea 7700go(i think) and an old Pentium 3.

So the new system will be a HUGE upgrade regardless of dual or quad.

Anyway I'll be ordering tonight so any last suggestions, or things that I may have missed?
