Gears of war - Page 2

The monsters I thought were all interesting if too few different ones. I love the Boomers that go "Boom!" before shooting. Great addition. Similarly, the weapons are not many, but all are cool in their own aspect (love the chainsaw bayonet and the blood that splashes all over the screen when you use it).

The graphics are superb and not very harsh on system requirements (to max it out I'd recommend a system like mine at minimum) but there were some random stutters that were due to HDD and consequently, some of the loading times are very long on the PC version at least.

I'm currently playing through the game on "Insane" difficulty and let me tell you, this game needs some serious skill.

All in all I'd give it an 8/10 on my scale (CoD4 gets an 8.5/10) so I think it's a great game for the single player. As for multiplayer, definitely give it a miss.
mass effect is cheaper and that just came out, basically all new games are cheaper than gears of war, which is like 2 years old

Not really. In Australia GoW sells for $69 whereas most new games are $89+. Not to mention that newer does not mean better under any circumstance.

Well I went in Gamestop this past Saturday and they had the GoW Collectors Edition for $37. It was used but it looked brand spanking new. I might pick it up if they still have it next time I go to the mall.

Gears of War 2 is coming out this fall, I hope it will be as good or better than the first one. I didn't know Halo 3 wasn't on PC, huh....

I just finished reading the new EGM that covers Gears of War 2 multi. I wet my pants multiple times reading the 13-page article. I cannot see the new Gears scoring less than it's predecessor, or less than a 9.5 in general.
