So I've Tried Everything

Thread Starter
My TRUE isn't giving me the performance even close to what it should be delivering. At 1.36vCore my Q6600 Loads (after like, 2 minutes in Prime95, small ffts) 69-70 Degrees. I've tried the washer/penny mod on my TRUE, lapped it. I thought my CPU retention clamp was keeping it from making complete contact, tried to lower my fan speed to the air would flow through the fins easier.

NONE of these worked. WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?!

BLARGGGH!!

What are you using to monitor temps?

I would suggest getting HWmonitor, coretemp & realtemp just to compare them. Sometimes certain programs dont read certain MB/CPU combos correctly.

Also what is your temp in BIOS?

I'm using Coretemp. Both Coretemp and Everest show within 2degrees of eachother. I haven't checked BIOS yet. I'll be right back, I'll do it now.

Yea do because everest and coretemp both didnt work for me, HWmonitor, realtemp and a few others like TAT did.

coretemp is likely right. really they all read from the same spot (just some have a bigger delay, so it fluctuates).

And if you run speedfan, it's likely 15C less (so you know coretemp is right)

The only other thing to suggest is to lap your cpu. But 1.36V at 3.7ghz is very good.

I just checked my BIOS, shows the same as Coretemp.

EDIT: I'm using AS5

EDIT2: Actually, I've got ONE last thing to try. I'll shoot myself if this is the reason.

I always felt that I had the same problem. How ever, through some experiments, I have found that I need a high cfm fan to actually get what I expect out of a $60 heat sink. I have tried some low speed fans and they work well when I'm not trying to push it, but when I up the vcore it's a different story. Right now I have a Delta on my true and the thing is damn loud, but it keeps my cpu cool. I lapped my quad and used a washer on the TRUE and I feel that it's seated right, or it should be since I have done it so many times.

One thing lapping my cpu helped with was making all cores have the same temp, at idle they are a little different but at load they are all the same.

The two things that have seemed to make the most difference are fan and case airflow.

I'm using the Silverstone FM121 as the CPU HS Fan. I used a razor to check the flatness. My CPU IHS is not lapped yet. I'll do that tomorrow. So.. in case anybody was wondering. I just tried to reseat with no TIM. .. Results are....... borderline CPU Auto-shutoff let's just say.
