[Anand] AMD's K10: A "Dead" Product or Not? - Page 2

I wish ati and amd would work together and the next platform would make them work flawlessly with no possibility of bottlenecks.

I look forward to Fusion personally.

With Nahalem right around the corner they won't stand even a small chance at beating Intel.
Excuse me madam, but have you seen what kind of performance a 9850 Black Edition gives you at 3.2 Ghz? I assure you it is not dissimilar to the Q6600 in real world situations. The performance of the current range of Phenoms is grossly underestimated. Intel struck a goldmine with their Core 2 architecture but it doesn't mean AMD sucks now. Infact, I'd say AMD is doing a hell of a lot better than Intel was when it was getting stomped around the yard by the Athlons.

I hope to see some objectivity which is why I enjoy these debates most of the time. Quality discussion please

I'll answer this by quoting myself in another thread since I don't feel like typing it all out again:

We may make up a small percentage of the market but we have the power to change the perception about a product. It's called aspirational marketing. For example, we all know people aren't going to buy Toyota's super cars. So why make them? Because they increase the sales of the other cars as it shows off Toyota's engineering prowess. Similarly, if Intel loses their position it could have dire consequences on the average consumer.

Some of you may suggest that the majority of Intel's share is in the corporate market. True, but I don't think any company wants to concede the enthusiast share either. This is the market that provides feedback to them.

At the end of the day, Intel's profit gains from the extreme edition processors (which will undoubtedly be fairly small) will be offset by the fact that for less than $300, there is nothing for the average enthusiast overclocker. It will be likely then, that this site will have a few more phenoms

wishful thinking, lemans.

K10 IS dead, though, and i realised it when they released the 64+ Black... hope they get something better out of the door soon so i can go with ATI?AMD again

AMD kids come to the true performance. I would advise it being a strong amd user.
I am so proud of you sublime! You were once the biggest amd fanboy on OCN and now you have found out that intel literally pwns anything on the market right now. Let's not get into this fanboy crap, seriously though lets talk specifications, the top amd quad overclocked to 3.2 barely beats a q6600 at stock. For crying out loud my overclocked e2180 can beat a phenom in most application right now and by the time they come out with more compatible quad software lets hope amd will have a new processor.

thats the biggest lie i've ever seen. Show me proof that a 3.2 ghz quad from amd gets smoked by a stock quad q6600. Man you sure know how to make me laugh.

My quote of the day.
