8800gtx sc Vs 9800gx2 x2 (quad sli)

Thread Starter
Hello all I am new to this forum posting although I research this forum quite a bit,
I truly thought my question would of already been answered but I searched numerous times and could not find it so here it goes

My current set up is
E8400 @ a mild 3.6
Sli Evga 8800gtx Superclocks
780I Evga MB
4g ddr2

I am still within EVGA's 90 day step up on my sli 8800gtx sc, and I was wondering if it is worth it to step up to TWO 9800gx2's essentially running quad sli, I have been researching this for like a month now and can not make up my mind seems to have so many different views out there.

Please help, bench's stories and comments and facts are welcomed, thank you in advance, and now since I am registered I plan on being active here

i wouldnt do it. the price for the performance is not worth it in my opinion. plus the new video cards are due out in the next month or so. hopefully your step up doesnt run out by then

June 18th is what I've read. Personally, I'd wait it out
post #10 of 11
Yeah just wait for the new cards. June 18 really is't that far away. Only 32 days away! That gives you 13 days to see benchmarks and make a decision. If they suck, step up to the GX2's if you have nothing better to spend it on. IMHO, I don't think it's worth stepping up to them ever really.
