Dead PSU

Thread Starter
My PSU just dies yesterday & I'm interested in the Ultra X2 550w modular power supply & id like to know if 550w will be enough power for my setup and enough to power a future upgrade from my SLi 7600gt's.. to probably x2 9600gt's next year, will 550w be enough power for now and then? Id like the Ultra X2 750w modular PSU but it is impossible to find available anywhere.

Would it be enough, yes...does that make it the best choice, no. I would look into a better quality psu, like a pc cooling 610 would be an awesome choice.

Silverstone Decathalon series psu's are nice, and 100% modular. I have the DA850, very happy with it so far Also I have had good experiences with Antec psu's

I cannot think of a particular model but the Tagan series are also a nice PSU brand.

I had a Silverstone DA750 and it worked awesome until I spilled water in it (whooops). I wholeheartedly recommend that series of PSU.

do you have a pic of your power input on your psu? the silverstone has molex style connectors at the psu side that feed out to molex and sata power plugs. The PCIE should be swappable, and the 24 pin on your psu is most likely not deatchable so youll need to use the silverstone one. Why do you ask? is it the not fully sleeved cables on the silverstone? That bothers me too but I have it like 99% hidden
