Wouldn't you consider the 9800GTX a "new" card?

I mean the 9800GTX has to be faster than the 2900XT right? There must be some improvement.

It is basically an 8800GTS 512 with two PCIe power plugs. Not really a new card. Yes its faster, but these new cards will be amazingly fast, and are going to come out in the next month or two(hopefully). Its worth the wait, but if you dont want to, I would suggest getting an 8800GTS 512, there is almost no difference, but you can save a load of money.

A.) 9800GTX is just a slightly overclocked 8800GTS G92 for $75-100 more. That's paying a lot for a "9" and an "X".
B.) Your 2900XT is still an excellent GFX card, and should play 99% of games maxed out.
C.) If you have the upgrade bug, keep in mind the new cards will be out soon.

So, no, you shouldn't buy a 9800GTX.

Yea get a 9800GTX I think its a good idea. If your going to use it to its full potential.

The 9800GTX is a rebrand IMO....Its not ''New'' at all.

Your current card will hold you up perfectly fine until ATI's new release. I really would wait as you will only end up kicking yourself. ATI 4870 looks to be an absolute monster. Its not much of a wait either.

Keep your money.

Damn companies, they know when I have cash and an ich to spend and they make me wait on purpose to torture me!!! GRRRRR!!!

Thoughts on 2 9600GTs in SLI. The benchmarks I am seeing on that setup is incredible!

It depends what resolution you will be using to whether SLI would even be worth it.

Check these numbers out. In all "in-game" benchmarks at every resolution the 9600GT SLI beat the 3870X2.

But I will be playing at 1680x1050
