Toward the end of June, in Los Angeles, the editors of Tom’s Hardware USA will gather together with top overclocking enthusiasts from around the USA to see who can get the most speed out of a set of computing components without frying too many of them.

Yes, liquid nitrogen cooling is not only allowed, it’s encouraged in our overclocking contest.

There will be prizes and some unique and most interesting opportunities for contest participants. Tom’s Hardware USA will pay for the selected participants to travel to and from Los Angeles and will pay for lodging at a nice hotel during the competition.

Our editors will also chauffer participants to and from the site of the contest. And, of course, we’ll provide food and a selection of energy- and non-energy-inducing drinks.

Over the next week, we will be looking for super-overclockers and we invite your nominations. You can nominate yourself, another person or even a team of overclockers. I’ll tell you how to do that in a bit.

Here are a few details:

We are looking for hardcore, extreme overclockers who can prove their experience
We want the best of the best
All cooling means are allowed
All key component types will be involved
We will provide the latest hardware, including processors, chipsets and graphics
Participants will have the opportunity to battle it out in a contest covered extensively by Tom’s Hardware USA
To nominate yourself, another person or a team to participate in the Tom’s Hardware Overclocking Contest, send email to me. Nominations are due by May 21st 2008.

Include the following information about your nominee(s) in your email. If you’re nominating others, provide as much of this information as you can. Brief responses are preferred.

First and Last Name(s) of Nominee(s)
Email Address(es) of Nominee(s)
Website of Nominee(s)
Handle(s) of Nominee(s)
Age(s) of Nominee(s) - (Must Be Over 18)
Overclocking Experience with Examples of Specific Overclocking Results on Specific Hardware and Any Other Proof of Overclocking Prowess
Interesting Facts about Your Nominee(s)
Why You Think Your Nominee(s) Should Participate in the Contest
Components List for Your Nominee(s) Computer(s)
Components List for Your Own Computer(s), If You’re Not a Nominee

Thanks for your time and participation. Watch these pages for more on our overclocking contest.

So if you're asking if anyone is in the US... then the answer is yes.

Less than two hours out. I can do it in 1:15 though if I speed.

They got the latest processors?! Awesome, now, someone "accidently" put 1.9V through one of those 45nm chips and tell us what happens.

Man, I wish I could do that, but I'm not an extreme overclocker. I OC, but not like them.

Overclocking depends as much on the chips and hardware you get as your skill. Two chips of the same batch can result in a fair amount of difference in their overclock. With the collection of high talent they intend to get, I think the outcome of the tournament will rest more on the luck of getting a good chip than on skill.

None the less I think it would be pretty awesome to attend.

QFT. I would hate to have a chip in that contest that would hit an fsb wall at 475 no matter what voltage or settings.

It says you get to use their components, not your own. I've never used liquid nitrogen before, but I'd be willing to fake it.
