While my BS is in Geology, I hold minors in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Theatre, and am 4 hours short of a minor in Computer Science.

When I spend my on $$$ for parts I like to keep to reasonable limits in terms of volts and temps, but if you're going to give me free hardware to destroy then I'm game. Remember, my rigs are built to run OCd 24/7 for years on end, not just 60 seconds.

I've never had the opportunity to go LN2 or phase in a computer application, although I have plenty of experience with industrial applications of phase (think 2500hp turbines pushing 300psi of NH3).

While this may not be valid street cred in terms of being a u63rl337 OCer, I think it does qualify me as a "Jack of all trades, Master of none".

Ln2 stable are you nuts?!?!?!.....just let me get a SuperPi 32M and I'll be happy!
lol the most extreme i have ever gotten is my watercooled rig outside in sub zero ambients, and in some cases i was more than happy to settle for superpi 1m stable.

Edit: the biggest reason no one here from OCN would ever win is because of volt mods... anyone here know how to come up with a volt mod on their own?

The experience you need to enter this competition:

1. Extreme cooling. i.e. LN2, DiCE, Cascade. And not just once or twice.
2. Voltage mods
3. Knowledge of all the subtimings, mutlipliers and voltages on the BIOS. i.e. Twr, Twtr, Trwt, Tref, Twcl.
4. Knowledge of Windows and benchmark tweaks, e.g. level of priority, LOD

You also need respect - for example, K404 over at Benchtec has handpicked PC2-6400 from TeamXtreem which is his Signiture Edition and was picked from the best of the best when the 3-3-3-8 stuff was speed binned. Many overclockers have inside contacts from whom they can get cherry picked hardware.

Please note, in no way am I saying that I have the skills - I don't. However, I know a few extreme benchers and I hang out a lot on the Benchtec forums and this is the kinda stuff which you pick up and wish you knew
No offense taken at all. I know that I don't have cred in the hard core community at large, but I do follow what's going on. That's why I said I'd go with a delegation......I could not pull it off on my own and I know it.

I still think I qualify for #2, 3, and 4. Reading 150+ pages of specs and block diagrams per each component is not beyond my capacity. I'm also pretty handy with a soldering iron and calculator.

FWIW, if 5-6 guys that have at least as much experience as you or me (I know there are many here with more) they'd have a reasonably good shot at a good showing. I'm not saying that we'd be #1, 2 or 3.....not by a long shot- but a respectable display for relative unknowns.

I appreciate your points and it's obvious you know your stuff in a general way

However, we wouldn't have a chance of coming near the top guys - mainly in terms of experiences (a lot of the stuff you need to know would be kept pretty secret) and in terms of contacts.

Did you know, for example, that every now and then - sometimes 1/10, sometimes 1/20 - 3DMark01 will chuck your a score in the first test several hundred points higher than all of the other runs? =o
