Bass Sound Setup/w DT770s

Well, I made this account, mainly for this question.

I don't know much about setups, and i'm not quite an audiophile yet, but i'm learning. Anyway, i'm trying to develop a system that will really deliver the bass to my DT770s. I can't use speakers at all (apartment), so something that compliments cans.

I still have realtek OB sound that came with my computer, and i'm wondering what is the best approach to take for better sound. Should I get a Tube Amp (Little Dot MK2) and a DAC (zero probalbly)? Or, should I get a sound card (HT Omega Claro+)? I'm converting my mp3s to Flac, and doing anything I can for a prestine system.

Any comments, or the first thing I should buy? Or other suggestions for amps, Dacs, cards? Thanks.

Converting MP3s to FLAC won't do anything, you need to rip them from the original source in FLAC.

Anywho, amp+Dac would sound the best. The Zero is a good DAC, also look at the Zhalou 2.5 and E-Mu 0404.

Well I meant converting my library as in re-ripping everything into WMA, then Flac format, not converting my current MP3s.

Anyway, out of the three, which would you recommend?

Movies are my top priority, then music, and finally games. I'm also running Vista, so I should steer away from X Fi Sound cards, as i've heard there's been problems between the two. That, and the Asus Xonar D2 is better for movies/music anyway.

An outboard DAC will sound better than the X-Fi or Xonor. I like my E-Mu 0404, and it was an incredible deal when I bought it at ~$150, but the price has gone up since then, so it's trickier to say.

Is the E-Mu better than say the 01:Amp-DAC, or should I go with the E-Mu and a Little Dot MK 2?

I have not heard the 01, so I can't really help you there.

The MKII is a good amp, but I'd also suggest the MKIII ($45 more than the MKII and better) and the Meier Corda Arietta/Headfive, which is very warm for a SS and synergizes with the DT770s very nicely.

Do you have a budget? That would make recommendations easier.

Really ive got the DT770pro 80ohm and this is with a Corda Areitta + Prelude.

If all u want to hear is bass then this headphone delivers . The Mids are reccesed and the headphone can be muddy at times.

When you put a Amp to this headphone it makes it sound alot better and you can actually get the proper bass from it . However it dosent change the fact that its not a Balanced sound.

Really whats ure budget ?
