$400 Budget Build

Wishlist

This computer is going to be used for windows exclusively, no gaming, no 3d editing. Just surfing the web. My clients price limit is $350-375, $400 at most! The case doesn't matter, the inside doesn't have to be beautiful.

No keyboard/mouse/LCD

Now onto OCN to help me

I like your Intel build better. DEFINITELY. I'd just pay $5 more and get the GIGABYTE GA-73VM-S2 LGA 775 NVIDIA GeForce 7050/nForce 610i Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. I used that board with my E2180. Awesome board. Onboard audio and video was great too.

I like yours, but for this build i would just take the 780g, that is a great integrated. With that you can either just save another 20 or you can maybe afford 4Gb of ram for future proofish or maybe get a nice 52 card converter cause anyone who has a camera or phone wants those now.

In all honesty, for just a plain workstation, id go for something like this:

Intel Mini ITX CPU/Motherboard/GFX
WD Scorpio 250GB
Scythe 2.5" HDD Silencer
1GB DDR2-533 RAM

Then add your choice of case, PSU, and CDROM, and make sure you remove the fan off of the CPU. That thing runs cool enough not to need it. And since the computer will only around 28W of power at full load, you don't have to worry about what PSU you are getting, just get a case that comes with one. Obviously you won't be running vista on this thing, but I'm assuming with a budget like that your client is sticking to XP, which this board handles well enough.

Hate to bubble burst but why bother? For the same price you can get a better performing and more realible mobo. Also that's a notebook hardrive for $120, you can get the same memory for half the price with a regular drive.
The systems posted above could run Vista if he wanted too. Regardless, it's about getting the most for your money.
