Yeah sure...

I actually have to open up someones phone, fix water damage, replace capacitors, actually have to "physically fix" the phone 50% of the time, flash their phone, etc.... all while they are waiting in our store. Not sitting at home waiting for a call. Yet my coworkers still find time to snoop.

Your full of crap. Ignorance is bliss. I'll come "try" you anytime. I'm also a technician, anyone who works a tech job will tell you the same. Obviously common sense isn't a requirement for being a "geek".

Since you said such a completely RETARDED and unmannerly comment I will say this. I am in college. Actually, why does my pc cost more than yours? With my "non college job". Why do I spend roughly 400$ a month on cpu's alone? You need to go back to college and grow up my friend, where did you work when you were going to college and working? This is my first job and to hear someone say something like that makes me wonder what todays society is turning into. College or not.

If you spend ~$400 on CPUs a month, then:
A) You're selling drugs for the extra cash
B) Spending your parents money
or
C) In serious credit card debt
...........none of such reasons validate bragging

On a more OT note, I disagree with all of you Geek Squad bashers. Just because there are a few noobs that work Geek Squad doesn't mean that they're all morons.
For every person that made a derogatory comment regard BB employees, there are TWO BB employees that know more than you.
I had a good friend in high school that worked in BB car audio, and he was in my AP Calculus class.......he studied computer science in college......so not everyone there are ignorant

Try again? You never tried to begin with. Commenting on my post without even putting up even a slight argument against my post basically means you are not prepared to argue with me.

I simply stated the facts of my job, as well as some observations I made on your post. If you cannot defend yourself, or are prepared too, then don't get involved in such a heated topic.

You did all your phone repairs yourself? Good for you, one less customer I have to deal with. I wish they were all like you. Flashing a phone is the easiest thing we get to do. Tell me, how would you fix a water damaged phone?

This isn't a pissing contest, Mr. Best buy. Just don't sit there and tell me you don't have the time to sift through someones computer while they're at home.

a military memorabilia knife while not fixing my computer in Redding CA. If a 6.5 Ft tall goon enters your house up there watch him like a hawk: Very sticky fingers
edit: maybe the piece could have just jumped out the window, what a coincidence

I don't think an A+ cert will address all the issues with the Geek Squad, but it would help.

People who go to college, or put in the effort to attain a certification or degree usually are more mature and usually older with more of a respect for peoples private affairs. This obviously isn't the case for 100% of people but it does reduce the ignorant punks and ups the quality of their workforce.

However, it would require an increase in pay similar to those with the same degrees. This puts bestbuy in a bind. So it really isn't the 20 year old kid with a mad addiction to WoW who just got out of high schools fault, it's best buy's. They're the ones who ultimately lowered their standards and have the authority to reapply them.

If you want to blame someone "other" then best buy (like their employee's) then blame yourselves:

Because 49% of you voted for a Republican, Bush has ruined our economy and businesses are hurting. Business which want higher profits can either increase store traffic or reduce payroll. You want it to be like it was back in the 90's?

Remember? Largest economic boom in US history? Oh yeah, that was under Clinton. A Democrat. Didn't he erradicate the national debt? Oh, forget all that happened while he was in office, some girl gave him a **** job so nothing matters.

See you can tie everything to Bush if you tried.

the bottom line is, geeksquats are very honest. (not all, but most). i do give props to those who are honest though and those who actually know their stuff. I remember one time looking for a regular everyday digital camera....BAM! this Geek comes up to me and automatically recommends me a DSLR that cost $600 and said all these bull crap to make me buy it. I was like, "dude, I'm not a professional photographer okay.. Leave me alone...I know my camera stuff "

I enjoy making those geeks look bad....if i ever become a geek, please make me look bad too.. hahahah

Just act dumb and ask one of those retarded geeks to recommend you any piece of hardware/software/anything for your specific task, 9 out of 10 will try to rip you off... I'm gonna go ask a geek one day and secretly record it on my cell phone and post it on youtube

in the end, if you don't know enough about your own computer to solve those small issues, don't even own one... period!
