My monitor exploded... Internally... *UPDATE*

I can't really explain it, so check out the pictures...

I was playing CSS and i watched my monitor do this in about 2 seconds. I did nothing physical to it, it just spazzed out, and pucked on it self...

It does look like something was thrown at the monitor, and i assure you nothing of the sort happened. I am leaning towards the idea my and my roommate have, that it just got way to hot, and the liquid stuff inside failed??

It did reach the mid 90's today, and i have 3 computers running 24/7, plus playing CSS for hours... It was hot, but really that hot? I had the window open if that is any consolation...

I bought the monitor at my local Fry's last December-ish. Are they going to just tell me to shove it if i bring the monitor back?? Would i be better off calling Gateway??

I feel i am up a creak for something that i don't fell is 100% my fault. I do agree that i should have taken steps to make my room cooler, but...

I lol'd. And yeah it does look like a circuit blew back there. Call up Gateway I'm sure they'll replace it.

Down here my room has been 110F and my monitor is fine. It's not your fault.

i couldn't get a good picture of this part, but there is a darker circle about the size of nickel in the white part of the monitor, and then there are cracks coming from this dark spot.

Kinda like getting a crack in a car wind shield..

its a 24" monitor, so have some perspective on whats going on...

My guess would be to go to frys and see what they say, and if i need to, call gateway if they aren't willing to play ball...

Wow that is amazing, Your guess is probably the right one, the temperature was just too high. But I think you had your brightness too high, because when I put my brightness to 100% on my samsung, it literally feels like an oven.

Circuit blowout it seems. I would go to Frys first then of no luck with them then contact gateway.

Sorry about your loss.

i just had to check this thread because of the title

unlucky though, although if you didn't do anything to it, then gateway should be used to this. I bet you are not the first for this to happen to.

Contact them and try to return it, if they don't want to play ball...are you insured?
