You might want to search for "gateway *model* screen defects"

I'll bet you are not the first to have this happen. if there is a trend of this failure, then you have every right to a repair / replacement.

What I dont understand is..if its still under warranty, why are they not jumping through hoops?

A chance they won't fix it? It's under the warranty period and it broke through no doing of your own and there's a chance they won't fix it?! If they don't fix this then take it all the way to the prisident of gateway if you have to. The nerve of some companies to say they stand by thier products (warranty) then refuse to fix it because it's "not a usual problem", it gets my blood up, lol.

Correct. I NEVER let ANYONE get away with ANYTHING like this. I've used my lawyer for much less.

Yeah. I don't know about in the US, but in the UK, a product has to be fit for purpose, and even without a guarantee, a monitor should last more than 6months to a year.

I'd also have taken it back to the retailer here, again, it may be different, but here, the retailer has to take it back, then get the RMA themselves, it's not up to the customer.

Thats correct. Most stores offer a month warranty or up to a year with themselves. Otherwise you will need to go through the manufacturer themselves.

my monitor should be fixable, and if by chance that it cant be repaired, then I'm sure they will just replace it....

I did not give them any credit card info, so there is no way to charge me for any repair services when they get the monitor. I registered the monitor with the Gateway tech, and gave him my phone number. So I'm sure if there is any issues with the warranty, then I'll be getting a phone call, rather then them sending the monitor back to me....

If for some strange reason Gateway wants to dick me around on this, I'll pursue a refund. But, if they actually want to help me, and not blow me off, or decide i owe them money to fix it, I'll let the warranty thing go through, and use the repaired/replaced monitor...

I know my monitor isn't the best 24" screen out there, i am aware that it is a TN panel. The main reason for getting this was for all the freakin inputs. They work great, and the picture in picture is awesome...

If i end up having to get a new monitor for some strange reason, i'll pursue a S-PVA panel. Dell has a decent one from what i have read...

Anyone have a suggestion on a specific monitor if i end up getting a new one?? @4" of course...

I am doing a lot more web design, and Photoshop work, so better picture is something I'm looking for...

I wish I still had a source for the 24" Acer S-PVA I'm using but I can't find them anymore and ewiz.com switched them for the tn models. The AL2416W (no BW or anything else, just plain old W) with the vga, dvi, and no other inputs is the S-PVA version, it's a great monitor but hard to find I guess.
