[Fud] ATI GPU. Release dates, prices and Phenom 9950

Thread Starter
ATI Graphics card release dates here:

Days before Nvidia

RV770XT with GDDR5 memory support and RV770PRO with GDDR3 support based cards will launch on June 16th, just days before Nvidia's Geforce GTX 280 product codenamed GT200.

ATI wants to spoils Nvidia's party but in the end, it will all come down to the fact which will be faster. From what we know it looks like GT200 based products should end up faster than RV770XT, but we believe that R700 with its two RV770 chips should be the real GT200 competitor.

As we said in a separate post, R700 dual chip card will launch at some point in August which gives Nvidia quite a lead.

ATI Graphics card prices here:

Another great price

ATI's Radeon RV770XT based cards powered with GDDR5 memory will end up with a $229 suggested etail price and it’s likely to drop quickly to under $200 mark. This is the price for 512MB card that should be the top of the mainstream / performance line of ATI RV770 generation.

Naturally, the RV770PRO card with 512MB of GDDR3 memory will end up cheaper and it will launch at under $200 suggested etail price.

RV770XT will replace Radeon 3870 512MB cards on the market while RV770PRO should replace 3850 cards of live on top of them.

We believe that ATI won’t kill its affordable Radeon 3870 and 3850 cards and will make them co-exist with RV770 based products, at least for the time being.

And just to throw it in some info about the soon to be released 9950 Phenom:

To launch soon

AMD has another 65nm quad core to launch and as we suggested before it will call it Phenom 9950. After Phenom 9950 comes Deneb, a new 45nm quad core that we saw in action at Cebit. Unlike previously believed, the new Phenom 9950 won't work at 2.6GHz than on rather interesting 2.66GHZ clock.

This speed might suggest that the CPU might run at 10x266FSB but this is something that we will have to confirm.

Phenom 9950 was scheduled for a late May launch and it’s most likely to show its face before Computex 08 that starts on the June 3rd or at least at this event. AMD doesn’t plan any big launch but it will make some noise when it gets it out.

The new CPU will be out there before RV770 cards and AMD will probably push reviewers to test on its own CPUs.

You forgot to put your source in your head. Like this [name of source].

Just letting you know.

Hopefully the 9950 will yield some nice overclocking results. The stock clock isn't too bad itself, finally nearing a zone that the Phenom's should have started at back at the 9500.

As long as AMD prices the 4870 in the same fashion as the 3870, they're gonna strike it big here I think. The 3870 was incredibly well received for it's excellent price - performance ratio, and the 4870 looks like it's gonna make a big splash in the performance pool with GDDR5.

why RV770 is cheap??
IMO this proves that these cards won't compete well with new Nvidia cards

Just FYI, It costs about $50 to make a Graphics Card, the rest is for R&D cost and to get profit.

So ATI can sell low if they want and it could be just as fast, if not faster.

How does it prove that at all? Specs and results prove that, not price. Nvidia could price the 9800GTX at $200 if they wanted to. That wouldn't mean it's a piece of crap.

I know that, but if ATI was as good as it look on paper then I don't see why it should'nt sell @ $300

Because NVidia priced their 9800GTX at 300, and they are competitors who try to undercut each other to make a profit. If both cards cost the same and perform the same, wouldn't you want to have your company sell at less than the other guy just so you can get the business?

The 2900xt/pro uses an almost identical core as the HD3870, and that thing (for it's price) has amazing performance. You get 85-95% of what an 8800GTX is capable of, for under $150. The HD4870 is going to be dirt cheap, I'm guessing on the day of release it will come out at 260 like the HD3870, and be out of stock because everyone is going to be buying them like crazy.
