Stillhouse, the problem is is that I am connecting the 3 analog surround sound cable to my DTS-610 digital converter and then running a digital fiber optic cable from that to my yamaha surround sound for true 5.1.

This is the only surround sound system that I have right now. If i bought that audio switch, it would be useless to me. So now my question is, if I buy an HD555 or A700 like headphone that is not the 5.1 crap, would running it through the DTS-610 converter and my yamaha receiver lessen the sound quality and response?

also, nobody answered my first question of if I can run the hd555's or a700's straight from the digital output jack on my sound card?

sorry for all the questions, but i am new to this stuff.

ps. I found some sennheiser hd 515's at a local store where I live. do those compare to the hd555 or a700?

do you have a front panel headphone jack on your PC anywhere? because that could easily be used for the headphones... HD515s are the lowest of the entry level 500 series by senns, never having personally tried them I can't offer much more on them...

The digital out will not work as they are analog headphones, unless you have a DAC between them... but DACs cost money, lotsa money...least for good ones...

well the yamaha surround sound system that I have is digital 5.1 because its running off the DTS-610 digital converter, so if I plug the headphones to the yamaha reciever would that give me the best sound quality and simulate 5.1 the best?
