[TcMag] Creative unveils the X-Fi Titanium series sound cards - Page 2

To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me if Creative actually released these cards with decent EAX support out of the box, or even built Alchemy into their drivers. Only for the new X-Fi Titanium series mind you. You know, to give people an "incentive" to upgrade.

Meh, I jumped ship from Creative late last year and haven't looked back since I got my Xonar.

I used to love Creative but recently they deserve nothing but scorn.

Vista Support - Fails
Stability - Fails
Sound Quality Vista - Fails
Overall Product - FAILS

I took out my X-Fi Xtreme because of popping and hissing not to mention a lack of features in vista that I bought the card for in the first place. I have gone back to my onboard sound which frankly is a much less frustrating experience than the X-Fi is. I would rather watch a Pauly Shore marathon for the rest of my life then install another piece of Creative trash in my comp.

??

You have some very odd issues then.

Mine is performing tons better than my Asus audio. Sounds clear, perfect, never had any stability issues. Only problem was Alchemy, and it crackled a bit one time..then I raised the SB voltage and it works great.

I just saw the card on their website for preorder. Its good to see more pci-e soundcards out now. Now those pci-e 1x slots will be even more useful.

better sound quality.
kind of like saying whats the point of buying a surround sound receiver when you only have 2 speakers yet are using a radio from the 1920's

I am not saying for everyone but for me it just has not been a good experience. I actually wish I was in your shoes to be honest I have used creative forever and this is just disappointing.

On the SB issue though. Should you really have to do that? It should just work thats my opinon. Its not like I am trying to overclock it you know. I just want the thing to give me good sound without all the hassle.

No, no, I meant is openAL still an obscure API or is it being quickly adopted by game devs due to directsound no longer having support in vista.
