Intel is preparing to update its server offer by moving its Xeon CPUs from the C-0 to the E-0 stepping. The new revision will see the quad-core Xeon X5482, X5460, X5450, X5472, E5450, E5472, E5440, E5462, E5430, E5420, E5410, E5405, L5420, and L5410 and dual-core Xeon X5272, X5260, E5205, and L5240 processors get a new CPUID - 0xA005b013, new SSPEC and MM but not much else. The excection is the X5482 which, once moved to E-0 will have its TDP lowered from 150W to 120W. Also, the E-0 parts will require a BIOS update.

Intel will start delivering E-0 sample chips from July 3rd while customers should get them in volume from September 19.
