Ubuntu not recognizing hard drives after overclock?

Ok, let me calm down first....

Ok, I installed Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon on my PC (on the 2nd partition of my 80GB IDE Hard Drive) Everything was ok, until for some reason (i think it was because of the overclocking...) Ubuntu didn't recognise my other hard drives (On the 500GB HDD I have Vista and on the other partition of my 80GB HDD I have XP SP2) I tried to turn off the overclocking and i entered to ubuntu again. I pressed Alt + F2 to run the next command: gksudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
A friend told me that the problem would be there.

I managed to fix it yea, but later, i went to the BIOS and overclocked again to 3.2GHZ, later i booted to Vista to check my e-mail, after that I booted again to ubuntu and guess what?? It doesn't recognize my other hard drives again!!!

What can I do, So ubuntu can't run if the CPU is overclocked???

1. update your system: sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade
2. install ntfs-3g (if it's not installed) and all needed dependencies: sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g
3. list your partition table: sudo fdisk -l
here you will get smth like
------------------------------
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 2612 2627 128520 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 2628 2876 2000092+ 82 Linux swap / Solaris
/dev/sda3 2877 9729 55046722+ 83 Linux
------------------------------
where is "System" chech the partitions that are NTFS and see their names (/dev/sda3) for example
4. add the ntfs partitions in /etc/fstab
for this:
sudo gedit /etc/fstab
edit/add the partition table
for example your NTFS partitons are /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb3, in this case the lines should look like:
/dev/sda1/media/winxpntfs-3g
/dev/sdb3 /media/winvista ntfs-3g
don't touch the other lines in fstab!

Also look into getting Super GRUB. If it can't find your other drives...they are gone. :-P

Update to 8.04! I'm sure that would fix your problems.
