Motherboard/vid car question

Thread Starter
If I were to get the ASUS Rampage formula x48 board would I be able to put 2 nvidia video cards in it? Or would I have to get an SLi board?
Or would it only be able to run one nvidia card?

Physically, 2 nvidia cards could be used, however, you could not use SLI, so unless you're using multiple monitors, it would be pointless. If you want to use SLI - which I assume you do - you would need a 780i, 750i, 680i, or 650i board.

The Intel chipsets (X48, X38, P45, P35, etc.) only allow for Crossfire with ATI cards.

its a CrossFire Support ATI CrossFire graphics cards
so 1 nvidia or 2 ati
so to sli you will need a sli board not a crossfire

You would have to get an SLI board.

That board is designed for crossfire (ATI's version of SLI). However you could put one Nvidia card in it.

One more question..
If I just went ahead and bought a

Asus P5N-T Deluxe nForce 780i SLI- Motherboard
Q6600 processor
(2x1GB) PC6400 DDR2/800
800 watt power supply

Do you think I'll be able to get everything to run right if I used my radeon x1600 512Mb card until a better card comes out? The newer badass cards that is.
also running on Vista 64 bit...

Well my money situation is kinda tight so I was gonna buy what I could, and save for like a month and buy the new card. But If I had to choose now how would you rate an 8800 gts? And then I could just get another one later.
