Unless you had a completely steril environment and no dust on the components that can get wet, anything will become conductive.

Clean distilled water is also not conductive, but it is when poured in a dusty PSU. My very first loop I spilled a mixture of brand new fresh distilled water and hydrx in my PSU and fried it. There is dust in everything, and as soon as the coolant touches the dust, it's contaminated and conductive. And that's not to mention all the crap that comes in all those radiators and blocks and metals it's in contact with.

There is no safety net other than using 7/16" ID tubing on 1/2" barbs and making sure you're fill port or T-Line is in a good location to prevent spilling when filling and topping off. 1/2" ID tubing is much MUCH more leak prone..I would use 7/16" for that reason alone. I pressure tested a block at 25psi on a D-Tek barb without any clamp and it still held on just fine.

And nothing outperforms straight distilled water for thermal conductivity and specific heat properties, so there is no performance gain to use something other than water, if anything the other way around.

The coolant mixture is only needed for antifungal and anticorrosion properties, the rest is just bling...

Aparently fluid XP sucks, syrillian tried it and said it was really thick and made his tubes change colour..

From what i hear there are super expensive scientificaly engineered liquids with slightly high thermal conductivity.

There is a machine for cutting fine patterns in steel called a wire EDM. The wire is hyper-electrified and run through a small hole in the part to start the pattern. The part is submerged in Reverse Osmosis filtered water to protect the worker from electrical shock. So I guess if it's good enough for that it'd be good enough for the computer. You can buy a RO filter for like 100 bux that slowly filters perfectly pure water at like 5 gallons an hour. You can obviously drink it or it's great for aquarium water too.
