I use a T line as a fill port and drain. I don't think it matters which one you use. It would be determined more by the deign of your loop and what is more convinient.

I use a T line with some tubing leading to a ball valve which I buy at lowes. Works great.

Lowe's is a great place. I buy fittings there all the time. I prefer the brass garden hose adapter with screw on cap for my T line
