How do you even boot XP?
It requires atleast 128mb doesnt it? I wouldnt run without atleast a gig!
The download speed will depend more on the amount of people you connect to to download the certain file as well as other things running on your computer consuming bandwidth (Games, internet browing, etc). Or possibly some required ports arent open.
tl:dr-Get a new computers, no offense but for 100 bucks you could pick up a ~1ghz P3 with atleast half a gig of ram from somewhere here. Or a good ol' amd.

Eh, thinking of it more. I calls shenanigens on your computer being that old with 64mb of ram. Ha

*gets out his broomstick to whack Pooping Fish* Hey! My computer is almost as old.

Seriously though I, and others think it's about time you sent that computer to greener pastures. You can still use it for your old games and stuff like that, but to use the internet and media now day's you should realy get a newer system.

LOL, I can't begin to explain how this thing is running XP, but I'm guessing I'm feeling the effects of it now, with my current system.
Yeah, I was thinking about the possibly of having to get another computer.

I was worried about the fact that I'd have to get a new(er) system, but at the same time I was expecting that's something I would have to do.

Still waiting to find out if you where successful in finding out details about your motherboard and components so we can help you make an informed decision about whether or not to upgrade them. You can also take a look inside your case and if you have a digital camera link pictures of the motherboard and other components to us. Just be sure not to give anything a nasty static shock, and while your at it you might want to check for dust. If you find any I suggest you use some caned air to get rid of it.

hmm, hp, 533mhz celeron, its a socket 370, running on 100fsb, most likely, the max supported cpu if your lucky is a 1 ghz p3

as for xp on 64mb, its not to bad if tuned down, i dont like to run it with less than 512mb of ram, but it runs fine on 256, there isnt a minimum requirment when installing, or if there is, its less than 64mb
