Hi all,

I need help in purchasing a graphics card. I am looking for a cheap card that will be sufficient to play 1080p MKV movie encodes. There is a deal from FRYS a 7200 grafix card, but i am not sure if that will be able to play 1080p movies. Please help me choose a card. thanks!

8800GTS G92. It's a pretty powerful card, a friend of mine uses his for 1080P movie viewing also.

A 3850 will do it nicely.

I would get the cheapest 128mb card that you can find, as that's all most video cards do for 1080p. Invest the saved $ in a better CPU, and you'll have a much better hi-def viewing experience then if you had gone with a fancier video card.

If all you're going to do is watch HD movies, wouldn't even a lowly HD3450 do?
