1st OC attempt - Page 3

O.K. I think I reached the limit at 240. I upped the CPU and chip volt one notch each and lowered Mem to DDR2 667. Then tried 245 ref clock. Still goes to safe mode. Looks like 240 is it, but I'm happy with it. Thanks for all the input Time to start OCing the GPU

question tho, doesn't 5000+BE i have is pretty much samething as 4800+ since they both brisbane, and only diff on unlocked multi.

if that's correct, i was able to do 330x10, even tho after only did some regular operation (internet, music, video etc) and SuperPI, no stability test, and i have also a 770Board, can it be the motherboard that limit it??

EDIT: pic in sig

dunno enough, still learning.

Steady, can you confirm with us on the stepping of the 4800+ Brisbane? I'm kind of guessing you have a G1 rev which might explain for the low OC.

Good luck

Also, based on what I've read and correct me if I'm wrong as I'm new at this. It has to be my mb/chipset limiting me. We have lowered the multi on the CPU and loosened the timings, therefore neither the CPU or mem are being overclocked at that point when I raise the ref clock... Correct??? So that leaves only the chipset being oc'd and thats where I'm stuck.

Thanks

Steady, thanks for posting that information. Apparently you have a G2 4800+ which from what I hear have a better OCing potential.

I believe this would be the case. That is a pretty low HTT (reference clock) to max out on though. I'm very surprised. Perhaps the M2N-E isn't suited for overclocking

Good luck

I guess I can go back and try raising the mb volt another notch.. only tried one step which I think was 0.012 or 0.12.. don't remember which.

I just had a crazy thought.. Could my bios be a factor, maybe I should try a diff version. I'll do some research and see if there are any issues with specific versions.
