8600 BFG GTS SLI Problems? Please help

Hi I recently purchased a used ASUS A8N SLI motherboard (it perfect workin condition) with an AMD 4400+ 2.21g processor with 2gigs of ram and without any videocards. I bought one BFG 8600 GTS (for the overclock). I play wow and would like to run it full graphics, on this Video card I was running like 15-22 fps in Shattrath (big city) where there is a lot of things going on. This is not optimum, I was hopping to run like 40-50fps. I was also getting some screen blips and burps and the game wasn't running smoothly. So I bought another BFG 8600 GTS to run SLI. I followed the install directions to the T, I flipped the SLI card around on the A8N, installed the bridge and unistalled my drivers. I then rebooted installed BFG/Nividia drivers and went into Nividia control panel and switched on SLI, I also turned dual video card on in the bios. And when I boot Wow I am still getting the same frame rates in the big cities and now there is a nice black line that burps near the bottom of my monitor (Acer22" 1680x1050). Did I miss something? Shouldn't my frame rates double? Is this motherboard (a8n) not able to support that kind of resolution? Please help, I have installed and unistalled them twice and I have switched the videocards around and both work fine. I have booted both singularly and both work fine. I'm lost.

When you say that you have switched the cards around and they both work fine....does that mean that you DO NOT get any artifacts or problems with a single card...only in SLI?

Also - you will not see a double in frame rates with SLI - there will be an increase - but not double.

Lastly - that particular board runs at 8x in SLI mode...so your problem might rest there.

Post your system specs in your user CP so we can see exactly what your using and some other folks might have some better advice

There were no artifacts with a single card just some skips. I understand I won't get double frame rates but I at least expected an increase. and there was none.

To clarify further: with the A8N you need to flip over ram like card or a gpu switch board to get SLI functioning. I have done this when I installed both cards.

My friend (who I purchased this from) was running CS on 50-60 fps with the same set up and x2 XFX 7600 GTs.

Partially it could be your board
Specifications: 2x PCI-E X16(SLI mode: x8,x8),
im no expert on SLI but it is the full 16x16 that makes the diff in the newer boards..

I would say try putting on "force split frame rendering" in nvidia control panel and see if that helps any

otherwise try http://forums.slizone.com/ and see if they have some feedback that will help

There is ZERO effect moving from 8x to 16x.

Did you attach the SLI bridge to the two cards?
