System won't start anymore after changing CPU cooler. - Page 2

What if I end up having to get a new motherboard.
Will the following motherboard work with my current DDR2 (533MHz) memory modules because it says they accept 667MHz and 800MHz modules. So I was wondering about 533MHz modules:

- Asus P5K SE
- Intel DP35DP

Did the CMOS reset work?
Try this -
Turn off PSU, Unplug from wall outlet.
Press the front power button.
Clear the CMOS with the jumper.
Remove the CMOS battery (carefully) leave the battery out for at least 10 minutes.
Reassemble.

You may also want to try booting the mobo out of the case on a sheet of cardboard.

Yes I tried a CMOS reset (as explained in the mobo's user guide) and I tried to boot the mobo out of the case.
I get the same results.

The mobo's green light is ON. All the fans start spinning. But I hear no BIOS beeps and I get no image on my display (even when using the mobo's built-in VGA).

It is possible that I may have damaged my CPU / Motherboard when I turned the system on for a few seconds and the CPU was not covered by a heatsink ?

What about the motherboards posted above ? Do they support DDR2 modules rated @ 533MHz ?

I doubt the processor is damaged.
I don't know whether those board support your RAM, but I wouldn't go for either IMHO. Try to get a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L or Abit IP35-e or DFI Bloodiron or DFI P35 DK.
Are you sure all power cables are plugged in?

You may very well have damaged it! however it would not kill the board, just the CPU. And even if it was the CPU you would still get a post. But the mobo would tell you that no CPU was detected.

And like you said, it all powers on just fine. Which means it is more than likely the motherboard

And i don't know if 533 RAM will be compatible. Depends on the RAM setting within the BIOS.

For example:

P5N32-E: With this board i could set what speed i wanted my RAM to run at manually. Like i can enter any random number

DFI DK P35L: This board is done by ratios, and even on the lowest ratio i could achieve only 720Mhz as the lowest frequency

So with the DFI the 533 speeds just wouldn't be possible unless you severely under clocked. I would let someone else answer the question definitively though, my knowledge with RAM settings is fairly limited.

Oddly enough I have had almost identical symptoms as you. Removed my thermaltake watercooling system, added in a custom setup. Green light on my motherboard on, nothing, tryed 2 gpu's, diff ram, nothing at all. My verdict is a new motherboard, I am tempted for the Asus P5K PRO.

Post if when you get the new motherboard if it works

I say try running the components out of the case on a mobo box or similar. See if it will boot then. One time I had a screw under the mobo. This cause the feeling of electricity when I touched the case. Once removed, I was lucky and the board booted OK.

Thanks guys. I already tried booting it out of the case and it didn't work.
I'll try to losen up the cooler.

I discovered yesterday that both my UPS and PC were "electrified". I get slightly electrocuted when I touch the chassis.

Perhaps this is what damaged my components.

I need to test my VGA card, CPU and RAM modules along with the mobo to know which components are damaged and which ones are working.
