Don't get me wrong... $230 would be friggin awesome. But given the limited supply of GDDR5 I doubt Qimonda is just going to give it away to AMD; I also doubt AMD can really afford to give away their GFX cards either. Why would they charge so little for something that could easily sell for more(if the performance rumors are to be believed)? I'll believe it when I see it... That's all I'm saying. Oh and @ $230 I'd buy 2X 4870s in a heartbeat!

this is what's wrong with consumers 2day... they funk it up 4 the rest of us that don't have loads of money bleeding from every orifice n our body.

even tho i do have extra money, i'm still not about 2 pay 500 bux 4 a video card, let alone 1100 plus 4 2 of 'em, i don't care if they both have dual gpu's. that's at or more than my cpu ($100), mobo ($200), ram ($100), psu ($200), case ($150) and 2 raptor X's ($350) COMBINED!

That's fine... You don't buy a high end graphics card, no worries both nvidia and ATI have a killer midrange with some cards <$100!

I wasn't assessing the situation from a consumers standpoint, I was looking at it from AMD's perspective. And my point still stands, if they could charge more for it they will/would period. They're out to make a profit...

-EDIT- Clarification

I wasn't trying to be rude... Fixed anyway

i wasn't picking on u or ur comment. it was a generalization that ppl have 2 much bloody money and don't bother trying 2 pay less 4 something. i agree that companies should try and get the highest price 4 something they produce... 2 a point and that point comes when a person says "funk u and ur high priced crap, i'll buy it used or wait till the price is 70 or 60 or 50% of what it is new"

it's kinda like gas prices, only we don't need video cards 4 everyday life
