I'm re-using LCD Screen, keyboard, and mouse
I need everything else, including OS
my goal is to be able to max out COD4
Also, if possible, a site that ships to canada
post #2 of 7
I know Tigerdirect.ca ships to Canada, but Im not sure if the others do, as I am in New Zealand, I really have no idea, but I will go through Newegg and build you something for $700.

Total = $732.92

here is a quick shot from a site called Direct Canada, if you spend more than $300 shipping is free, you just have to pay your provinces sales tax

i went a little over but the key money saving measure in this build is that the case came with a 500w earthwatts psu. the processor is a little too expensive for this build imo

EDIT, yeah forgot a dvd drive and OS, crappy, but they're $25, so i'm way over, lol but at least i included a reasonable videocard

Do you plan on overclocking? i don't think COD4 can be maxed out for that budget but it can run well, i'm gonna try again

here's attempt number 2....it's a complete system with nothing forgotten but again i went over, but there's a $30 MIR on the videocard so it's not too much over

but this essentially needs overclocking. I included the (arguably) best cpu cooler on the market though so it shouldn't be too hard if you read a couple of FAQ's on this forum

My try (directcanada.com of course):
  • Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 Dual Core Processor LGA775 2.0GHZ 800FSB 1MB Retail Box: $88.40CAD
  • Bfg Geforce 8800GT Oc 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I Hdcp Hdtv Out DIRECTX10 Video Card: $190.94CAD
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition 32BIT Dvd Oem $99.88CAD
  • Corsair VX550W 550W ATX 12V 41A 24PIN ATX Power Supply Active PFC 120MM Fan $84.00CAD
  • OCZ Gold XTC PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 240PIN DIMM Dual Channel Memory $55.65CAD
  • Coolermaster Elite RC-330 ATX Blk Case 4X5.25 2X3.5 5X3.5INT No PS 1X120MM Rear Fan Front I/O Panel $39.96CAD
  • Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA2 8.5MS 7200RPM 16MB Cache Hard Drive $55.88CAD
  • Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L ATX LGA775 P35 1333FSB 1PCI-E16 3PCI-E1 3PCI SATA2 Sound GBLAN Motherboard $90.25CAD
  • Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro : $21.62CAD
  • Samsung SH-S203B Black Sata DVD+RW 20X8X16 DVD-RW 20X6X16 Dl 18X/12X Int Dvd Writer Oem W/ Vista Sw $24.88CAD
Total: $751.46 - $55 rebates = $696.46

Syncmaster: It won't need much CPU overclocking.. he'll be just fine (CPU bottleneck is just about the most exaggerated issue on this forum). Also, the Antec Sonata isn't exactly the most spacious of cases, and I wonder whether the TRUE actually fits. Plus, it's not a friendly case for temperature control (since it's designed for quietness). Finally, the TRUE doesn't come with a fan, so I'd add at least another $10 for a decent 120mm fan.
