i have a question about PCI bus speed

Thread Starter
Hey,

I have an asus striker extreme board. To make a long story short i OCed my CPU to 2.6ghz. I looked throughout my entire BIOS to lock the pci bus to 33mhz but i found NO option to do so. It would only let me tweak the three PCI-E bus speeds.

Will my striker extreme automatically lock the pci bus or no? Is there a utility/software that will tell me my PCI bus speed? i just wanna make sure its at 33mhz

Thanks!

The PCI bus is linked to the PCI-E bus. Thus, when you lock your PCI-E busses, the PCI bus is locked also.

haha I asked the same stuff yesterday. Keep the PCI-E bus locked at 100mhz, overclokcing it only messes up your southbridge. I was wondering it it is overclockable and the awnser is that PCI-E cards only have a locked bandwidth, thats why if you dont lock it, it increases in proportion with your FSB. which is REALLY bad.

Some new(er) GPU's can handle a slightly overclocked PCI-E bus (but be careful if you, for exaple, use a PCI wireless ethernet card), so overclocking it 10%-15% can increase stability in some cases.
