I heard that this router has alot of problems but i never heard what kind. anyone know?

there isnt much problems at all, as long as you got solid and updated firmware, might slow down or crash when reaching alot of connections (1000+) , you shouldnt have any problems with it

I don't know about the v.5, but I have had nothing but trouble with the wrt54g in p2p apps. After ~15 mins the connection grinds to a halt and will not come back until I reboot the router.

i have a version 4 anda version 7 havent had any problem with them sense i had them flashed with dd-wrt

I've never had a problem with any wrt54g routers (had versions 5 and 6). Even with Linksys firmware it they worked flawlessly without any lag (wired and wireless). I do recommend dd-wrt firmware though, it's nicer .

Check out DD-WRT's supported device's page here and find your version to see if it's supported. In the far right column it also provides a link for how to install DD-WRT.

well i looked on the supported list and my router is the wrt54gs v.7
and it only goes up to v. 3

any ideas?
