Slowdowns

Thread Starter
Some days ago they started to happen, in Assassins Creed, Trackmania, Hellgate London and basically all my games even Warcraft III

I was using a 8600GT Fatal1ty until I bought the 9600GT so the problem isn't the vga, I've formatted my HD in february, I've already tried running a defrag, uinstalling the drivers, using the driver cleaner and reinstalling but nothing worked, can it be a hardware problem ? The mobo ? memory(i've run a memtest and no errors showed) ?

It's a real pain in the ass having these damned slowdowns in the middle of the action.

Do u have the latest drivers (from xfx website)? Disc drivers are always old especially when newer games come out. Try lowering you resolutions/AA if they reset to higher than before values when cards were swapped.

Something might be running in background, anti-virus or malware junk or worse the troj. Both sticks of ram OK?

Does your computer run slower overall even when your're not gaming? How long ago did you install windows sp3? Any new software you've installed lately?

It might be your ram sticks that are faulty or it can be its your CPU which is bottlenecking the card but I doubt it.Try switching the ram sticks around test one and the other to see if its the ram thats doing it.

I guess, as I said nothing showed up on the memtest.

No, it runs normal. I can't tell exactly but i'm almost 100% sure it was after the slowdowns started. And nop, no new software.

The CPU is bottlenecking but as I said, even on W3 and running on the lowest settings they happen.

Just a update, I remembered of a partition I had that I was going to use for Linux, since it was blank I installed Windows XP there, I hadn't much time but tested with trackmania and didn't had any slowdown.
