Dumb Question - Which PCI slot?

Thread Starter
I read somewhere that you should install your sound card in the very bottom PCI slot to minimize interference or something, but what if my power supply mounts in the bottom of my case, right next to the last PCI slot, will it cause problems?

Thank you.

Computer cases are notoriously full of EMI, you'll be hard-pressed to get away from it by choosing a different slot. (However, graphics cards are particularly noisy, so keep that in mind if you notice interference)

You should typically keep your graphics card and sound card as far apart as possible.

No question is a dumb question. But given that the PSU is on bottom, I suppose you'd want to mount it in the highest slot then. ~JadeMiner~

Wouldn't a PSU throw out more noise than a GPU?

Simply put, it probably would. But there are many many factors.

One big factor would be the giant metal box that the PSU is in. That box acts as a shield. The better it is the more of the PSU's magnetic field it blocks.

I know that my PSU has a fan hole on the bottom and I would guess that most PSU's do as well.
