Which PSU should I buy. - Page 2

For TS i think the DA850 is the best choice out there for around $200

For Kingjude This would be perfect and allow upgrades e.g Sli:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 i chose this over the 550VX cause its only a 5 dollar difference and it has 100w and 11 more amps on the 12v rail which would allow 8800GT Sli.

You should really start your own thread. As someone linked, the Corsair vx550 should be good (I remember seeing it on ebuyer for about 50 quid with VAT) or if you can find a good deal, the tx650 for a little more leg room for the future.

**edit** I should add that if you wanted to save a little money, the Antec Earthwatts 430 can be had for about £10 less then the Corsair 550. But honestly, I wouldn't because it will have limited upgrade potential. I would say an e2xxx and an 8800gt would be the most I would be comfortable putting on the Earthwatts 430.

And to the OP, good choice on the psu.

I love the racing stripes on that beast, but I might have gone for the Silverstone ST85F (sorry, partial to the Silverstone PSUs). Good luck with that rig!

I hope you mean the ST85ZF, the ST85F cannot compare to the ST85ZF or either of the two I listed in terms of performance. And yes the ST85ZF is a great buy after MIR at the egg but I think a 1000W is better for a quad cpu and quad CrossfireX.

**edit** Hmm, the ST85ZF performs better and is supposed to have better build quality then the non-Zeus version but there seems to be a lot of people on the egg complaining about DOA units. I'm not sure what to think about that.

Well for one, it is $50 above budget, and two I am not impressed with this PSU when it is loaded above 600W which is possible with the OP's rig. It displays out of spec ripple on high loads on the only review that has been done. This is the only review I've seen.

My pick was based off the OP saying he needed modular design. If it was my rig I would pick the Silverstone OP850 considering the pitfalls of a modular psu and the fact that I've had both and the modular design doesn't really cut down on the wires/mess inside the case. BTW, where are you getting your performance info?

Corsair 750tx for non-modular or Silverstone DA850 for modular.
