650TX for future upgrade? Adequate?

Thread Starter
Next month I am ordering a whole new rig with the following:

Motherboard: DFI LT X48 T2R
CPU: Q6600
RAM: G-Skill DDR2 2x2GB 1000Mhz DDR2
HD: 500GB Sata 7200RPM
PSU: Corsair 650TX

I also plan on doing watercooling, what I am mostly concerned with is my GPU solution to come in July or so.

I am planning on Doing 2x 4870's in Crossfire. My PSU has 52Amps on the 12V and I am wondering if it will be enough to crossfire those two cards? I am assuming so as neither will draw their full power all at once and they are rumored to draw less power as well.

Later on this year I will go 4870x2 and 4870 in tri-fire, and then I will upgrade my PSU, but for now will mine suffice, as it will save me 250 dollars on the Silverstone DA850 Modular I was eyeballing.

I can't say for sure because we don't know how much these cards will need, but 52A should be enough for crossfiring 2 4870s and a quad.

Based on what we know as of today, RV770XT with GDDR5 is 160W and RV770PRO with GDDR3 is 110W. So, technically, 650tx should be fine but get the $95 750tx to have some headroom.

Well if I am going to have to upgrade I am going for the beefy 850Watt Silverstone. Thanks for the links as always Lins, I guess I will just wait and see if it powers the two cards fine.
