Help finding an SATA adapter

Thread Starter
I took out the hard drive out of a laptop, and thought that since it's an SATA, I could connect it to my computer to take the files out. The laptop was broken btw. When I looked at the connector though, it looks different. It's not a male connector like the usual on a 3.5" hard drive. Neither a female. I'll take pics later when I get the chance. And I'm sure it's not IDE. Can anyone help me?

I'm sure it's not IDE. And it's an HP dv2000. I tried the SATA connectors from my computer, but they would not fit.

There is a certain adapter that is needed to connect a laptop harddrive into a pc, like what serioussam suggested. They sell them on newegg for about $10 if I remember right.
