Wow, yeah, thats really interesting actually. I was leaning towards the Toshiba but I think I might go for the Gateway instead.

I'd say go with the gateway for performance....but I have yet to see anyone, including myself, have any type of problem with Toshiba, even on laptops that are almost 20 years old. I can't say the same for Gateway.

But yeah, go with the gateway if you game.

20 year old laptops?

True, but the real tossup is I really need this laptop to last as long as possible while having some pretty good performance. I can't afford to buy another one in 3 years.

I'd go with the Gateway since it has the 8800 and a 7200rpm hdd versus the toshiba's 5400rpm.

Yeah, we've established that by now... the Toshiba has a fair bit less power than the gateway. What I'd like to discuss is the reliability of the two.

Last bump. Leaning towards the Gateway now... final decision tonight.
Would just like to discuss the reliability of the two please.

I've had 2 Toshiba's before and have had issues with them, they were both higher end notebooks too. But my sisters Gateway, which she had for over a year has had no issues whatsoever. So go w/ the Gateway.

Gateway hands down. Toshiba CS is terrible. My cousin had sent in her lappy twice to them before, and they still have not fixed her overheating problem. They told her that she had to send it in three times (at her expense) to get a replacement. Its also the reason why I went to a Dell lappy too....Best CS in the business.
